Forum Report - Deathwing @ 3:11:41 EST
A few new facts gleamed:
The Day Night Cycle will have three gameplay effects. During night time, Night Elves can shadowmeld, Undead can regenerate, and there will be reduced sight radius for human and orc units.
Blizzard is considering the implementation of a 'team lock' feature, where player's can't change their teams after a game has started to prevent back stabbing.
Unlike Warcraft 2, you can't build buildings faster by sending extra peons to repair them while they're under construction.
We thank Raiddx for the report.
team lock feature wäre geil find ich, denn ich hasse die idioten die ais einem 2v2 ein 3v1 machen

Many humans have asked: how many units can you group select at once?
This question has been ignored until today.
The answer is..............

Spells!
Marn Thunderhorn
Blizzard Entertainment

Autocast Spells (Formerly Modal): Some spells have the added
functionality of an autocast mode, which players can toggle on or
off. If toggled on, the caster will cast the spell automatically
under certain conditions (the conditions depend on the individual
spell), provided the caster has enough mana. Players can at any time
“override” the autocast mode and cast the spell directly (again,
provided the caster has enough mana). If toggled off, the casting
process for spells that have an autocast mode will simply be the same
as it is for spells that don’t: the caster will not automatically
cast the spell; the player will directly control when and where the
spell is cast.
Ultimate Spells: Upon reaching level 5, each Hero can obtain a
unique ultimate spell. These spells, which have only one spell level
and cannot be upgraded, are generally very powerful. Some ultimate
spells take so much out of the Hero that they can only be used once
per game day (a game day is approximately six minutes in length),
whereas others have very short cool-down periods before they can be
reused.

Undead Abomination Change
Marn Thunderhorn
Blizzard Entertainment
Mon Jan 14 10:55:18
There has been a change to how Undead Abominations are created. They
are no longer created by merging Ghouls. They are now created at one
of the Undead buildings. We found there were problems balancing him
because low-end units like Ghouls do not cost Lumber while high-end
units do. It was hard to balance a high-end unit that only has a gold
cost that is triple the cost of a Ghoul. Also, both the Abomination
and Ghoul have exciting ability enhancement upgrades that will be
revealed in the future.

Undead Blight Information
Marn Thunderhorn
Blizzard Entertainment
Tue Jan 15 11:28:21
Undead Blight Information
Blight is now created by Undead buildings rather than by sacrificing
an Acolyte. Similar to Protoss buildings in StarCraft, Undead
buildings will continue constructing themselves after being started
by an Acolyte, thereby freeing the Acolyte for other tasks.
Certain Undead buildings create a larger-than-normal radius of
blight. Most Undead buildings must be built on blight; only a couple
can be placed off of it. Also, Undead units regenerate health while
standing on blight, but Undead Heroes don’t require blight to
regenerate.
Blight remains on the map after Undead buildings are destroyed; the
other races can remove it by building new structures on the leftover
blight. However, once land has been blighted, it will never again be
green and fertile, but will forever remain unhallowed dirt.

Here, I'll answer some of the questions on the spell:
1) Can you cast the spell on Summoned Units like Skeletons?
Yes, you can cast the spell on Summoned Units. This makes it a nice
combo with Necromancers
2) Why "waste" a unit?
One of the keys tactics in a battle is eliminating the other player's
hero. Being able to extend your survivability is many times more
useful then having another Ghoul or Skeleton doing damage for you.
3) How many hit points does the Death Knight get?
Well, the percentage of hit points returned to the Death Knight
varies depending on the level of the spell, but at the high levels
the Death Knight receives in excess of 100% hit points. So, you
get more hp back then the original unit had.

BGH maps is NOT an issue
Shlonglor
Blizzard Entertainment
Mon Jan 21 19:54:28
This is NOT going to be the issue that people are making it out to
be. The only reason it's an issue in StarCraft is because StarCraft
lacks detailed map filtering. There
is also a key bit of information that makes this debate POINTLESS
that is not ready to be revealed yet so you will have to wait. Just
trust me.
For those people that want to play BGH type games (which is a TON of
people) they will still be an option.
Wait and see.

A lovely new screenshot, set in a "different" type of tileset, we've seen this tileset once before, and it seems to be a kind of town tileset, with the pavings, pillars and columns everywhere, not to mention the small trees and bushes looking like they're out of some fancy garden.
There are some interesting units at the bottom of the screen, all gathered around the Jorn the Redeemer (Paladin), my guess is they are some sort of neutral human units that accompany this tileset, sort of like the Civilian units in Starcraft.
We also see some interesting little creeps, a couple sheep over to the left and what looks like a small black wolf over on the right, getting ready to pounce on something - whether they can actually attack is another matter, but I wouldn't think so unless perhaps they were attacked first.
The rest of the Human units are all in formation, bringing up the rear are four Footmen and two Knights, and then a couple Priests and one Sorceress. There is also a Gryhpon (and rider) up in the top right.
From the looks of the minimap, this tileset is probably still one which you can build buildings on as is shown by the Aqua blocks in the bottom left and a couple goldmines.
Taking a closer look at the Paladin, we see he has his Devotion Aura activated, as is shown by the graphics onscreen, the indented button down in the bottom right and the icon in his stat area. The other spell icon is probably his healing spell. In his inventory we see an unknown head band (or perhaps a bracelet), and Scroll of Restoration, an unknown book (Tome of Knowledge has different graphics) and a Potion that probably restores mana and health (like rejuvination from Diablo). I would say either the headband or the book increases the Paladin's intelligence, as we can see it has been magically affected because it is green in colour.

Night Elf Ancients
Many of the Night Elf buildings are actually sentient trees known as the Ancients. The Ancients possess the ability to draw their roots up from the ground and move around (albeit somewhat slowly). They can attack and defend, and there’s an upgrade available to them at later stages in the game that allows them to move more quickly. In addition to being mobile, the Ancients can also consume trees to heal themselves. The Tree of Life, the largest of the Ancients shown in the screenshot, collects gold for the Night Elves by rooting itself near a gold mine and then entangling it.
Also seen in this screenshot are Night Elf Wisps. These units expand themselves to form the Ancients and other Night Elf buildings. Wisps also harvest lumber, but they don’t mine gold.
This first screenshot shows the Ancients while they’re rooted. The following screenshot shows the Ancients on the move.

Well if that's your opinion you're free to have it but Warcraft
III is way better than StarCraft. It has way better gameplay than
StarCraft or Warcraft II land.
It will be super long lasting with it's 4 races and awesome
battle.net features.
All your opinions seem to demonstrate that you haven't even played
it and new players don't always see the good things from the new
style play because they try to play it like StarCraft.

Abominations kosten weniger Gold
Crypt Fiends kosten weniger Gold
"Eat Tree" stellt weniger Hit Points wieder her
